Our garden has been gradually developed since 1995, to the extensive plantings and 'rooms' that are in place now. A
love of all varieties of plants shows through, with extensive tree plantings forming the basis of the site,
interspersed with roses, rhododendrons, peonies and perennials. A pond and native plantings are a recent addition and
focus of Chartlea Park Farmstay.
Meander down parts of the garden or along the walkways linking the various 'rooms' to merge near the base of the
mammoth gum tree, reputed to be as old as the homestead itself, which dominates the area. A clever use of old garden
implements and farm gates adds to the interest and uniqueness of "Chartlea Park". We enjoy having people share our
garden and home with us, and frequently have tours through as we are part of the Northern Southland Heritage Trail.
This has allowed us to develop our knowledge of the history of "Chartlea Park".
